ahem..

Hey all. Forgot about this blog thing. It's quite overwhelming when one has a whole month's worth of life to catch up on.

First day of term today! I did a speech in English to the school, in Japanese to just the teachers, and the students did a little welcome speech back. In the speech the girl asked me if I was nervous, I said yes and she said "don't worry, we are gentle students"!! Haha cute.

Well what have I been up to? A lot really... I wore yukata, sucked at bowling, bought my application for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. There's this video game arcade here which has a little bowling alley, shooting gallery, batting cages, pool, library of comics, karaoke and all of it is free - you just pay a set fee per hour. It's AWESOME. I can't state enough how AWESOME it is. Also it's open 24 hours. It's quite cheap, and there's vending machines inside with super cheap delicious ice cream. Going there for an all-nighter one day..

Nick comes soon!!! Yay! Hooray for Nara trip!

Please check out my facebook pics, I will put some on here one day:) I'm so busy and never home, and when I am I talk to Nick! Love you all:)

Good morning!

Well it's 6.26 am and I've been up maybe an hour? Just hung out my laundry....

Don't even know where to start. It's my fourth day in my new place, I'm living in an area in a mountain valley that's very green and cicada-y. I'm tired and in a constant state of hungry. I'm not eating so much cos I'm not used to the food, even when I enjoy it I don't eat so much. Yesterday we were given a tour of Kobe, not so much sightseeing as government offices and places we need to know for paperwork etc. But it's been information overload and none of us are retaining any of it.

"This is where you need to fill out this form and do this or you will die"
"Don't give a shit!" I had fun in the end though, as we were downtown until late. And all the old JETS go to so much effort.

I've got lots of people in the buildings around me so it's a nice little community in the Hana. Today we're going to the 2nd hand shop and picking up the phone I applied for yesterday.

Anyway it's really my first blog and I've heaps to catch up on, esp. pics. So I'm just going to list some firsts:

first time overseas
first time used a bidet (woohoo!)
and a squat toilet
ate some eel
first time speaking Japanese to a Japanese person who wasn't my teacher
ate pasta with chopsticks

Tonight I'm going to a fireworks festival, where I'll be wearing a summer kimono and dancing;) I'll regale you of tales of last Sunday in Shinjuku and Harajuku some other time..

Are we there yet?

Hi everyone! No posts yet, but I will be adding to this blog as soon as I arrive in Japan! Check back for updates, or you can subscribe to receive automated updates through your RSS reader.

A note for those of you who aren't familiar with RSS feeds: RSS readers allows you to have your favourite blog and news posts sent to you automatically. So if you subscribe to this blog, every time I put a new post up, the post will be sent directly to your RSS reader for you to view, without you needing to come to the website. It's really handy if you read a lot of blogs or news sites, because it allows you to have all that information in one place, rather than going to 10 different websites.

For Windows, I believe  FeedDemon is a good RSS Reader, while for Mac you can't really go past NetNewsWire. Google also offers an online RSS reader called Google Reader. Once you have a reader set up, you should be able to click the "Subscribe to: Posts (Atom)" link at the bottom of this page and subscribe to this blog.

Otherwise, come back and check the site for updates. And feel free to leave any comments!
